In the previous financial year the airline reported an increased revenue of R1.4 billion compared to R1.3 billion in the previous year. Profit was recorded at R227.3 million. The 2009 profits were attributed to an increased revenue in the regional market. The key to attaining successful financial results in the 2009 financial year was as a result of avoiding venturing into unprofitable business ventures that may be deemed lucrative but remain outside the airline's key focus areas. Most importantly, choosing not to hedge SAX's fuel proved to be a wise decision according to the CEO as most airlines have done so and suffered the consequences.
