The Committee was also concerned about bank loans and stated that it was imperative that the funding model was finalised and that the utility must work hard to prevent having to take out a second loan from the World Bank. The Chairperson of the Committee was concerned about the figures given for the funding gap (R190 billion) as it did not accord with the projected economic growth of the country from other sources. She was also concerned about the poor quality of coal and said that moving the transport of coal from road to rail should be investigated.
