The Department reported that the Minister had appointed a team of experts to undertake a business review and re-engineering exercise of various aspects of the Department, especially those areas where challenges were being faced. That process was ongoing and the Department would report progress to the Portfolio Committee from time to time. The outcome of the review and re-engineering exercise would in all probability result in changes in the budget, organisational structures and processes and programmes of the Department. Obviously, whilst that exercise was proceeding, changes to structures and processes of the Department were understandably being minimized so as not to either pre-empt or undermine the outcome of the exercise.
