Inspections take place weekly by the person in charge of the store, and the stores are checked monthly by the management. The registers were checked by the Members and in the case of the Z88 register, for example, the last inspection had occurred on the 13 May 2010. This register was last checked by the commander in charge of facilities on 29 April 2010. Inspections entail a check of the printout from the PAS system against the actual firearms/serial numbers of the firearms in store. No incidents of theft from the armoury have occurred over the past financial year. The last incident of theft occurred in January 2009 where a staff member was responsible for theft of firearms from the armoury. All firearms were recovered and the member is currently on suspension and facing disciplinary charges. The supply store was in a very different state to the armoury. Shelves were dirty and the store was very disorderly. Piles of blanket were strewn haphazardly on the floor. These blankets were apparently to be destroyed, even though it had been requested that they be given away. The facilities commander had been told that due to body fluids on the blankets (which may cause HIV/AIDS!) they needed to be destroyed.
