. The major concern was that this was a Training College for new recruits within the police. For most recruits (other than the reservists that were also being trained here) it was their first experience on the path to becoming a police officer. The lessons that they learnt at this College would remain with them for the rest of their careers and would dictate how they performed as police men and women. If these lessons were not the right ones and did not prepare them for a career as a disciplined and professional police officer, then the possible extension of basic training at the College from six months to one year would actually be a negative step. 2.
