The police station had no victim support system and the building shown outside, which was constructed with the assistance of Community Police Forum (CPF) was not completed. The Committee was told that the CPF was currently raising funds for the completion of the structure. This prompted the Committee to ascertain as to why the CPF was responsible for constructing such a structure, whereas sufficient funds were allocated to the SAPS at the national level for this purpose. In this regard, the Committee congratulated the work of the CPF and proposed that the structure needed to be improved to ensure that it was user- friendly as it would be used to cater for emotionally traumatised victims. It was discovered that there were no community organisations, such as churches, that could offer assistance to victims of sexual-offence-related cases.
