It was also reported that the station received, each financial year, an opportunity to send about seven detectives on training. However, it was indicated to the Committee that the duration of training was not long enough and that the type of training that detectives received did not seem to respond to their needs and challenges. Thus they felt less empowered after having attended detective training courses. They suggested that a curriculum that was more relevant to their actual work would be much more empowering.
