The turnaround time in the Ngwelezane satellite police station was not always sufficient. Also, it was alleged that some police members came to work drunk. The detectives were reported to be corrupt, and it was suspected that they were colluding with criminals. In this regard, the Committee was referred to a case dated 2009 - 09 - 17 in which, it was alleged, a crime scene involving a motor vehicle was deliberately drafted incorrectly and the perpetrator, who was said to be related to a well- known local lawyer, got off scot-free. The Committee promised to follow up on that case. The CPF was not funded, hence it became difficult for it to perform its duties. The Committee recommended that this matter be forwarded to the SAPS national management. The CPF proposed that it would be prudent if the police station could reshuffle the staff, especially in the detective branch, to minimise the high rate of corruption. The Community Police Forum requested the Committee to facilitate the revamp of a satellite police station in Ngwelezane Area into a fully-fledged police station due to the high crime rate in the area. The CPF further proposed that the community needs to be educated about court procedures, and the significance of opening a case and making follow-ups.
