The Committee informed the public that Section 49 of the Criminal Procedure Act allows the police, when faced with imminent danger, to shoot against the perpetrators. The Committee further encouraged the public not take the law into their own hands since that would be illegal, but rather to co-operate with the police in terms of putting forward the names of the perpetrators. The Committee further told the public that, if the loopholes were identified in the current legislation, Parliament would be ready to address that.
