The chairperson of the Committee thanked the residents who attended the hearing and encouraged them to take care of their livestock to prevent them from wandering off. The chairperson further advised the public not to employ people they do not know to look after their livestock, as such people could be potential thieves. The police should be able to listen to the public when the cases were reported. A request for the construction of the satellite police station would be forwarded to the national management. Lights, electricity and land issues would not be addressed by the Portfolio Committee on Police because they fell outside its purview, but would be forwarded to the relevant committees in Parliament. The Committee congratulated the Stock Theft Unit for its effective co- operation with the public, notwithstanding the fact that they were understaffed. In closing, the chairperson encouraged the residents to expose those implicated in stock theft so that they could be arrested.
