The station had the facility for secure identification of suspects, including the interviewing rooms. The Committee was informed by the branch commander that the station had 95 detectives, but ideally it should have 150 to meet policing needs of the station. The oldest detective was 55 years of age, while the youngest was 26. The average age of detectives was 30 years, with an average experience of five years. The commander preferred this as he explained that, for him, it was better to work with younger detectives that could still be groomed, as older members were usually less productive and were not keen on taking instructions.
