The branch commander brought to the attention of the Committee the difficulty they faced when investigating murder cases. Most murders took place at Section A hostel, an area that is difficult to patrol and police because of its impenetrability due to shack congestion as well as unavailability of roads. It was also said that, as most hostel dwellers are migrant workers, they sometimes leave the area after committing crime. People from elsewhere also would come to the area specifically to commit crime (murder) - they would kill the person they had targeted, and then leave the area. Such situations become difficult for the detectives to get clues and leads on the suspects, as they are usually unknown in the area. However, it was said that the station had registered 321 informers who were providing positive information in most cases.
