The lack of resources was identified as a challenge for sector policing and it was proposed that, when funds were allocated, the demographics of the area should be taken into consideration. The CPF initiated a project called Libunjwa-Liseva, and it was presented to the HOD (Head of the Department) of Community Safety and Liaison and the KwaMashu Police Station. The residents were promised that CCTV cameras would be installed in the area, but only poles were erected and, to date, nothing had been done. The community felt that they were sidelined on issues that concerned the station, as they had not been informed when the previous station commander had left. In terms of relationships with other stakeholders, it was highlighted that, with regard to the Department of Health, the challenge was with the delays in conducting post mortems and providing the results of forensic analyses. Whilst the wunga-challenge soured the relations between the police and the prosecutors, it was also said that courts had a tendency to release on bail dangerous suspects, despite the detectives' recommendation that the suspect be remanded in custody.
