The chairperson informed the gathering that the training college formed a foundation of effective police members and that a working curriculum should be judged according to the performance of the product. She further indicated that the Training Division at Head Office was currently reviewing the curriculum and the outcomes thereof would affect all colleges, whereas they were not involved in the review process as implementers of that curriculum.. She proposed that this needed to be addressed urgently. She furthermore indicated that, based on the findings made so far, ill discipline of new recruits was identified as a challenge, particularly at KwaMashu Police Station. In view thereof the Committee wanted to ascertain as to what action would be taken to correct the issue of ill discipline. Further, the Committee sought to check challenges regarding: . content of the curriculum; . training; . staffing; . library . vehicles.
