No. The Department noted that the resources is already under threat and the methodology employed, did not take in to account the interdependency of the West Coast Rock lobster in relation with other fishing sectors, small scale and commercial fishing sectors that are also targeting the same resource. The study methodology only sampled users in the recreational fishers sectors. The study recommended that the Department should be expanded to determine the impact of an increase in recreational WCRL fisher effort on the commercial and subsistence fisheries.
At this stage the study is incomplete and will not be presented as recommendations may be misleading and could have unintended consequences on other fishing sectors not taken into account.
