According to the National Treasury, although South Africa has also been affected by the worldwide financial crisis, it has been in a much better position because of its past prudent fiscal and debt management. This would allow the government to finance higher borrowing to invest in high priority goals that would drive economic growth, especially in labour-intensive areas of the economy, where job creation can be achieved.
