The objective of the presentation was to provide an overview of the CPUT student enrolment data. The new institution has nine faculties, being the six faculties of the former Cape Technikon and three faculties of the former Peninsula Technikon. The CPUT's approved enrolment target for 2010 is 32 000 students and this is projected to grow to 33 419 by 2013. In line with the general trend of enrolment in universities of technology at a national level, the faculty of business management studies has the largest enrolment currently at 10 144 students followed by engineering enrolling 7 138 students. Approximately 8 474 first year students were admitted for studying at CPUT for 2010 academic year. The current throughput rate of the institution is slightly above the national average of 22%. In terms of demographics, 52% of the students are female and 48% male; 46% of the students are black, 32% coloured, 21% white, and 1% Indian. The number of students per faculty is indicated in the following table:
