It was questioned as to whether the university had links with industry who might potentially accommodate students in experiential learning projects. It was a matter for concern that 240 learners in FET colleges were promised admission to study engineering at the CPUT. These students were later rejected by the university since they had not studied physics as part of their course. The department and the university were requested to give an explanation for this miscommunication. It was enquired as to the contributing factors in the decline in postgraduate studies. The committee enquired regarding the determining factors to the quality of graduating students at the CPUT. The university was requested to explain its persistent challenges as a result of the merger. It was enquired as to whether the university had programmes in place to enhance the skills of students from the working class. It was questioned as to the criteria used to determine the ability of students other than the Matric results. The university was commended for its dedication to enhance its innovation and research capacity. The university was requested to disclose its financial status in relation to its challenges.
