Madam Chair, the ANC remains committed to stepping up measures to fight corruption within society, the state and the private sector.
On Wednesday, 19 August 2009, the Land Bank presented its turnaround strategy which it hoped would reverse its financial woes. The situation was taken under management of the Treasury last year after it has been engulfed by allegations of mismanagement and fraud.
As we speak today, four forensic audits have since been commissioned and this report has been submitted to the Serious Economic Offences Unit of the SA Police Services and the Hawks.
The ANC requests the Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan, to speedily finalise the investigation on the matter so that the turnaround strategy can be implemented as a matter of urgency so as to enable the bank to chart safely through the challenges that lie ahead. I thank you. [Applause.]
