[Mr L M MPHAHLELE: Hon Speaker, as the PAC of Azania we are against the Bill which is denying the nation their freedom of speech. The PAC has noticed that the Bill is a strategy to sweep corruption under the carpet. These days cases of corruption are exposed. It is always the case that offenders are authorities who were elected by the people. If that is the case, then they are reminded that they were elected by the people, not to do as they wish.
As the PAC, we are totally against the move by the government or the ruling party in as far as the Bill is concerned, otherwise we will find ourselves in a banana republic. This will happen because a few days ago the hon Mac Maharaj wanted to silence journalists by laying charges against them for exposing his acts of corruption. As the PAC we are against this and therefore recommend that the public prohibits this by all possible means and power that they have.]
As the Pan-Africanist Congress of Azania, and I know some of you say that Azania is a foreign country - yes, I may look like a foreign spy, but let me tell you, you don't have to be a foreign spy to oppose this draconian piece of legislation. You don't have to be a foreign spy to cede your freedom of expression to the dictators in the making. [Interjections.] The PAC opposes the Bill. Thank you. [Applause.]
