22. Mr W F Faber (DA-NC) to ask the Minister of Public Enterprises:
What are the details of Alexkorâs Adult Learning Centre pertaining to (a)
when has it been operational, (b) the (i) location of the venue and (ii)
dates the training sessions are conducted, (c) the names of the presenters
and/or facilitators, (d) the scope of training, (e) the annual budget (i)
for the (aa) 2008-09, (bb) 2009-10 and (cc) 2010-11 financial years and
(ii) from 1 April 2011 up to the latest specified date for which
information is available and (f) the budget for the 2012-13 financial year?

Reply:
(a) Alexkorâs Adult Basic Education (ABET) was introduced in September
2004 and continued to be operational until 15 December 2009.
(b) (i) It was based at Alexkorâs mining site in Alexander Bay.
(ii) The training was discontinued in 2009. However, in the 2012/13
financial year, the programme will be re-introduced.
(c) Names of the facilitators cannot be made public.
(d) ABET Training focused on communication, numeracy and english.
(e) (i) (aa-cc)(ii) Due to Alexkorâs transition phase with the
implementation of the Deed of Settlement, the programme was not budgeted.
(f) The programme will be re-introduced in the next financial year
(2012/13) and the budgeted amount is R 240 000.00.
