Mr A Lees (DA â KZN) asked the Minister of Transport:
Whether a decision has been made to (a) rebuild or (b) do major maintenance
work on the N11 between Ladysmith and the N11 intersection with the N3; if
not, what is the position in this regard; if so, (i) what will be done,
(ii) who will do the work and (iii) when will the work commence?

REPLY:
The Minister of Transport:
a) and (b)
A project was identified by the South African National Roads Agency Limited
(SANRAL) to undertake rehabilitation work on the N11 section between the
N3/N11 interchange (Bergville interchange) and Ladysmith.
i) The scope of work is a full rehabilitation of the road with paved
shoulders.
(ii) The works will go out to tender for construction and the works will
be carried out by the successful tenderer.
(iii) The construction of this project is planned to commence in the first
half of 2010 with the design currently underway and is
approximately 50% complete.
