Ms E C van Lingen (DA-EC) to ask the Minister of Water and Environmental
Affairs:
1) Whether any applications for the promulgation of nature reserves in
the Eastern Cape have been received since 1996; if not, what is the
position in this regard; if so, (a) how many applications were
received, (b) how many nature reserves were promulgated, (c) how many
applications are pending and (d) what is the (i) date on which each
pending application was received and (ii) reason for not promulgating
each pending application;
2) whether she has been informed of a problem with the promulgation of
various nature reserves at Cape St Francis, Kouga Municipality, whose
applications have not yet been promulgated; if so, (a) what are the
relevant details, (b) why have these applications not been promulgated
and (c) when will the promulgations be published in the Provincial
Gazette; if not,
3) whether an investigation will be conducted into the reasons why these
applications have not been promulgated; if not, what is the position
in this regard; if so, what are the relevant details;
4) whether the Easthern Cape Environmental Conservation Bill which was
drafted in approximately 1999 and is intended to replace the Nature
and Environmental Conservation Ordinance (No 19 of 1974) will be
promulgated as an Act; if not, why not; if so, (a) when and (b) what
are the reasons for the delay?
