Thank you, hon Chair, and thank you to the chairperson of the portfolio committee. Yes, members would remember that my predecessor put together the turnaround strategy. Amongst other things, it would look at how to make sure that an identity document, ID, instead of taking 120 days or more, takes less time. Processes were put in place, and indeed a process was also put in place called "Track and Trace", which allows the applicant to track and trace where his or her application is. But the department also uses that "Track and Trace" process to inform members. Any member here who has applied for an ID recently will tell you that when they apply, they receive SMSes saying, "we have received your application", "now it is being printed", "now it is being dispatched", "now it is in the office where you can collect it".
