The Mossel Bay Municipal Council at its meeting of 26 May 2016, after a proposal call in respect of this property, resolved:

(aa) Officials attended a public meeting to discuss the future of Souwesia with the residence of Great Brak River on Tuesday, 2 May 2017.
(bb) The community requested that the camp site be restored to its original status. The inputs received were considered in formulating a proposal to be presented at a follow-up public meeting with the residence on 28 June 2017.
Mossel Bay Municipality will not be able to invest in establishing a camp site as requested. The proposal to the community will be that the Municipality do a proposal call for investors to develop and operate the camp site as an overnight and a day camp site. The community will be encouraged to organise themselves and to tender themselves.
In the interim the lease agreement in respect of the De Vette Mossel portion of the property was extended. The use is not in conflict with the proposed use of the rest of the property.
In respect of the rest of this large property a consultant conducted a botanical study on behalf of Mossel Bay Municipality. The finding was that this property was not developable at all. No indigenous vegetation may be removed and alien clearing needs to
