(1) How many persons underwent traditional initiation in each province (a) during the period 1 April 2014 up to the end of the winter initiation season and (b) since the start of the 2014-15 summer initiation season; (2) how many initiates in each province (a) were injured, (b) had penile amputations or (c) died as a result of the traditional initiation in the 2014-15 summer initiation season; (3) whether his department has identified specific areas in each province that are problematic in terms of initiation deaths; if not, why not; if so, where are these areas in each province; (4) for each province, (a) how many initiates were rescued from illegal schools in the 2014-15 summer initiation season, (b) how many illegal schools were shut down and (c) how many arrests were made; (5) whether he can indicate when his department’s national policy dealing with the customary practice of initiation will be finalised; if not, (a) why not, (b) at what stage is the formulation of the policy and (c) will such policy be ready before the start of the 2015 winter initiation season; if so, what are the relevant details?
