Mr David Ross (DA)

David Ross

What is your political background?

My involvement started whilst I was the chairperson of the Business Chamber when I became active in DA events and branch meetings. From there I was elected in the municipal Council and then became the mayor. The DA stands for non-racialism and reconciliation and I therefore am committed to serving all South Africans under its banner.

What does your job as an MP entail?

I work for a progressive outcome in enquiring about responsive governance. As a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA); in the same vein we ensure a responsive and accountable administration by government across all departments.

What is your impression of the fifth Parliament?

The leadership at presidential and cabinet level has left South Africa in the lurch and the issues of State Capture and Patronage will be the highlight of the current leadership and will be written in the history of South Africa.

What constituency area have you been assigned to you by your party?

My constituency area includes the Nala (Northern Free State) region and Matjhabeng Municipality.

What is most interesting about your constituency work so far?

It is the lack of financial accountability which necessitates treasury to intervene at my constituency.

What are you most passionate about - this applies both in a political/professional arena as well as personally?

I am most passionate about a functional and growing economy. Only the growth of the economy will address the high unemployment rate.

What would your message to South Africa be?

My message to South Africans is to strive to fulfill the dream of a united nation.
