Right2Know: Support “Freedom Week” (27 April – 3 May 2015)

R2K

R2K is calling on all supporters to plan actions for Freedom Week 2015 highlighting the free flow of information, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and association, or the rights of journalists and whistle-blowers.

Hold an Event:

Supporting organisations are invited to host public events to raise awareness of the various challenges facing our democracy. This could be in the form of a public meeting, a house meeting or setting up an information table at your local mall or pamphleteering at a local train station or taxi rank.

R2K can assist in getting a speaker for the event.

Choose an Issue:

An organisation may want to consider holding public meetings on the rise of police brutality, the high cost of communication, the critical need for a politically independent SABC or your local community radio station among other things.

Screen a film:

An organisation may want to screen a film to kickstart a discussion or raise awareness of an issue. Consider screening Crumbs or Miners Shot Down, or check a list of R2K-related films and documentaries.

Get in touch:

Send details of your event (including a title, date, time, venue, contact details, and brief description) to mark@r2k.org.za before Wednesday 22 April so that they can be included in the main Freedom Week programme that R2K will promote.
