Hon Speaker, the IFP notes that tomorrow marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign, which takes place annually from 25 November to 10 December. South Africa remains one of the most dangerous countries for women and children to live in.
With almost 55 000 women raped annually, we must therefore, as we prepare to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism For No Violence against Women and Children, rebuild a society based on the values of ubuntu/botho, a society free of physical, mental, emotional and social abuse. Let us, therefore, all join forces to ensure that we do not reduce this event to yet another talk shop and meaningless event on the nation's calendar. We need real action, real resolutions, real change and real security for the women and children of this country. I thank you.
