Hon Chairperson, I move without notice:
That the Council -
1) notes that a former health worker of Ikageng in the North West province, Ms Charmaine Seenyane, was honoured last Friday, 16 September 2011 for her innovative project to turn an illegal dumping site that was a health hazard to the community, into a viable agricultural project;
2) further notes that with this project she has won a prize of R50 000 as best practice model in the income generation category and that she intends to invest the total prize money in the project to expand the business and to create more jobs for unemployed people in the township;
3) further notes that the project was established to empower the community and to generate income for unemployed women and youth in the community through selling of vegetables and to invest part of the profit in vulnerable groups in the area; and
4) takes this opportunity to commend and congratulate Ms Seenyane on this very innovative project and her courage to work selflessly to improve the lives of others.
Motion agreed to in accordance with section 65 of the Constitution.
