Hon Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that on 20 July 2013 South Africa's roads claimed the life of another high-profile public servant, Nkosiphendule Kolisile, who at the time of his death was Gauteng MEC of Economic Development;
2) further notes that Kolisile's bodyguard, Tebogo Motsie, and driver, Tshepo Jobo, were also killed when the vehicle reportedly collided head-on with a truck outside Bloemfontein while they were on their way to a funeral in the Eastern Cape;
3) remembers that Kolisile was the embodiment of the Tripartite Alliance, joining the African National Congress and South African Communist Party in 1991 and then being elected as shop steward for the National Union of Mineworkers in Evander in 1995;
4) further remembers that he led a number of campaigns such as the mass- led campaign that rejected the reincorporation of Khutsong and Merafong districts into the NorthWest;
5) recalls that he was committed to the struggle against poverty and to improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalised and the development of young entrepreneurs in Gauteng;
6) believes that South Africa lost a proud South African and a disciplined cadre who was committed to the end; and
7) conveys its deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the MEC, his driver and his bodyguard.
Agreed to.
