Hon Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that South Africa's golden boy and swimming sensation, Chad le Clos, recently returned home with a world short course record and two world titles to his name;
2) further notes that Le Clos won both the 100m and 200m butterfly gold at the recent Fina World Championships in Barcelona, becoming the first South African swimmer to win two events in the same discipline;
3) acknowledges that Le Clos also set a new world record in the men's 200m butterfly short course at the Swimming World Cup challenge in Eindhoven, Netherlands, the following week;
4) remembers that Le Clos shot to international fame at the 2012 London Olympic Games when he unseated American legend Michael Phelps in the men's 200m butterfly final and then finished joint second with him in the 100m butterfly event; 5) believes that the addition of the world record to his growing list of accolades will motivate him further and will continue making South Africa proud; and
6) congratulates Chad le Clos on his amazing achievements and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
Agreed to.
