The IFP further proposes that the Speaker of Parliament facilitate an opportunity for the President of the US to address a Joint Sitting of Parliament. [Applause.] We believe that the majority of the people of South Africa would be happy to welcome and honour the first African-American President to mark the ongoing celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Organisation of African Unity. The visit may also serve as a platform where, in a diplomatic manner, international concerns may be raised with a visiting head of state. Anything contrary to this amounts to designing our future international nemesis. Thank you, Mr Speaker. [Applause.]
