Speaker, the ANC believes that if we want to see changes in the national teams, we then have to start with sports development at school level. A recent visit to Bongolethu Primary School by the ANC member deployed in Oudtshoorn, who was accompanied by two local councillors, has brought smiles to young schoolboys and girls. Those public representatives have observed that it is very important for school leagues to be uplifted in order for children to get the opportunity to compete. It does not help if people complain that they never get the chance to compete. It is also necessary for people to work together to let it happen.
On this visit, the school's under 11 and 13-year-old boys were presented with soccer jerseys, which were sponsored by SuperSport, as well as the under 11 and 13-year-old girls, who received netball equipment. The principal, Mr Thabo Tsunyana, was onboard to accept them for the school. The ANC is proud of the role played by the constituency offices in servicing our communities. I thank you. [Applause.]
