Mr S Mokgalapa (DA) to ask the Minister of Communications:
(1) How much does his department plan to spend on (a) advertising, (b)
communication and (c) marketing between 1 January 2014 and 30 April
2014 (i) in total and (ii) as a breakdown of the amount;
(2) (a) what mediums is his department going to use in each case and (b)
who is the service provider to be used;
(3) What is the main message that his department plans to communicate
during this time?

REPLY:
I have been advised by the Department as follows:-
(1)(a) R 1, 284 Million
(1)(b) R 2, 250 Million
(1)(c)(i) R 3, 534 Million
(1)(c)(ii) R 214, 000 on average per event.
(2)(a) The Department will use the Ministerial Imbizos to communicate
the work of the Department
(2)(b) All Imbizos are managed in-house by the Department.
(3) South Africa is celebrating 20 Years of Freedom in 2014, and the
Department of Communications as well as other Government
departments are mobilising South Africans around social cohesion
for this historic occasion.
