Mr M H Hoosen (DA) to ask the Minister of Home Affairs: With reference to the announcement by the President, Mr Jacob G Zuma, in his State of the Nation Address on 12 February 2015, what (a) amendments to the existing immigration regulations are being considered and (b) effect will such amendments have on job creation and tourism? NO433E REPLY: (a) The Honourable President, Mr Jacob G Zuma indicated in his State of the Nation Address that a review of visa regulations would be prioritised to strike a balance between national security and growth in tourism. In line with his review, an Immigration Task Team was established in September 2014 between the Department of Home Affairs and key stakeholders in the tourism and aviation industry, as well as relevant government departments, as a vehicle for on-going engagement on the implementation of the recently introduced visa regulations. At this stage no formal amendments are under consideration. (b) The question is not applicable in light that there are no amendments under consideration.
