(a) How many?
(i) Senior Managers:
Minister reply: There were no merit awards/performance bonuses that were
awarded to Senior Managers in 2012, the DoL is still busy with the
moderation processes for 2011/2012 performance period and bonuses will (if
deserving) only be awarded on merit and in line with the policy prescripts.
(ii) Heads of Human Resources?
Minister reply: There were no merit awards/performance bonuses that were
awarded to Heads of Human Resources.
(iii) Employees from Finance and Project Management who received
performance bonuses in 2012.
Minister reply: There were 28 employees at salary level 12 and below who
received merits awards in Finance and there were no employees who received
bonuses from Project Management.
(b) On what basis were bonuses awarded in the case of Finance?
Minister reply:
1. Finance successfully cleared the 2009/10 qualification
2. Finance maintained an unqualified audit report for 2010/11 &
2011/12
3. DoL was awarded a trophy by SAIGA for the best Annual report in
National Departments in 10/11, still maintained the top 3
position in 2011/12.
4. Improved performance on sub-directorate, financial accounting &
salary preparation.
