Mr MW Makhubela (COPE-Limpopo) to ask the Minister of Police:
1) Whether the building in which he and the National Commissioner are
accommodated is a Government-owned building; if not,
(2) whether the building is being leased; if not, what is the position in
this regard; if so, (a) at what monthly rental, (b) for what duration,
(c) to what extent does it conform with the Health Act, Act 63 of
1977, and (d) when will they move to a Government-owned building?

REPLY:
1) No, the building in which he and the National Commissioner are
accommodated in is not a Government owned building.
(2) Yes, the Building in which he and the National Commissioner are
accommodated in, is a leased building.
(2)(a) The monthly rental is R3 387 506-18.
(2)(b) The lease period is nine (9) years and eleven (11) months,
commencing from 1 January 2009.
(2)(c) The accommodation is not in total compliance with the Health
Act, 63 of 1977, and a complete refurbishment of the accommodation is
in progress.
(2)(d) There is no Government owned building available to accommodate
the current Head Office staff complement in the Pretoria precinct and
the building of a Government owned building has been placed on hold
owing to budget constraints.
