375. Mrs B L Abrahams (DA-Gauteng) to ask the Minister of Public
Enterprises:
(1) Whether any (a) general employees and/or (b) senior management of
Alexkor with minor offence records have been denied access to its premises;
if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, (i) what is the (aa)
name, (bb) identity number of each employee who has been prohibited from
entering the premises, (cc) nature of the offence that was committed by
each person, (dd) date upon which each person was sentenced and (ee)
judgment in each case, (ii) which person (aa) at Alexkor and (bb) in his
department is responsible to ensure that the judgment is carried out and
(iii) when will this matter be finalised;
(2) Whether an investigation will be conducted into certain persons
(details furnished) who currently have access to the Alexkor premises; if
not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details? CW480E
Reply:
(1)(a) Yes
(1)(b) No. Whilst the process of security re-screening was in progress
consultations started with the Chairperson of the Pooling and Sharing Joint
Venture (PSJV) Board as well as the Legal Adviser. A decision was taken not
to deny access to employees with minor offence records and all employees
who were previously denied access were granted access.
1(b) (i)(aa-ee)(ii)(aa-bb)(iii) The affected individualsâ particulars are
private and cannot be made public.
(2) The matters of the individuals referred to, were finalised in court and
are referred to as minor offences on their records. However, the current
management is in the process of reviewing the current security procedure
relative to this subject matter and will be implemented accordingly.
