677. Ms D KOHLER-BARNARD (DA) to ask the Minister of Public Works:
(1) Whether her department has made a decision on the request by the
Hartebeespoort Police Station to use the old municipal building
in Hartebeespoort as offices; if not, (a) why not, (b) what are
the reasons for the delay in making a decision and (c) when can
the Hartebeespoort Police Station expect to receive an answer
from her department; if so, (i) what is the decision and (ii)
when was this decision made;
(2) whether her department will recommend any alternative buildings
if the request is denied; if not, why not; if so, what
alternative buildings will be recommended? NW724E

1 No.
(a). No request received from SAPS.
(b). The initial request from SAPS was to lease the old municipality
building for the Crime Intelligence Services (CIS) but this was halted
due to amendments which needed to be effected to the needs
assessments. SAPS wanted to accommodate the Water Wing Unit at the
same premises; as a result, space requirements for both units had to
be consolidated. .
(c). As soon as the approved request has been received from SAPS.
