REPLY:
1) The Department has not received any applications to build
residential and/or leisure developments near the Vanderkloof Dam.
2) The current level of the Vanderkloof Dam is well below the high
flood level and indeed even below the full supply level with the
dam currently at 89.48% on
22 June 2012; the estimated high flood level of the Vanderkloof
Dam cannot be reduced.
It should be noted that the estimated high flood level should be
maintained to ensure the safety of the public and infrastructure
in cases when flood conditions are experienced in the Orange
River.
