12.1.1 South African Post Office During the oversight visit to various Post Offices, the Committee noted the following: (i) In almost all branches visited, the Public Internet Terminals (PITs) were not operational, (ii) slow IT network response which contributes towards poor customer service and long queues on pension days, (iii) certain buildings are without compliance and occupational health certificates; (iv) increase in crime, armed robberies and burglaries; (v) retail postal agencies without a strongroom; (vi) security on pension days posed a challenge; and (vii) poor relations with key stakeholders in certain provinces and local government level.
