Another security risk was that the North West borderline does not have members of the defence force to patrol it. It was only patrolled by the South African Police Services (SAPS). This was because the risk assessment had found that the North West was a low risk province. The defence force was deployed in the high risk provinces, such as, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
