Designated Police Officer (DPO): The DPO was not at the station and none of the other staff could answer the questions of the Committee. There were four trained Designated Police Officers who were responsible for looking after the station firearms but what confused Members was that these officials were not accountable to the Station Commander. Firearm licences and competency certificates that people had applied for and which had been issued were lying around and the excuse given was that they were going to be sent to other police stations.
