Unions: The Station Commander said that there was a good relationship between the management and the unions but according to Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) and South African Police Union (SAPU) the relationship was average and could be strained at times. The labour forums were not functioning properly and there was insufficient consultation on issues. The unions battled to get minutes of meetings and feedback was slow. They felt that management did not want to work in line with labour policies and that they were not consistent in attending the labour forum meetings. But it was confirmed that there were no restrictions on their activities. Decisions taken at meetings were not implemented and this reflected badly on union representatives, especially, when they had to report to their members.
