Of the 14 detainees in the cells at the time of the visit (27 had gone to court in the morning) many were from Diepsloot police station and had not yet been charged. A detainee who had TB and AIDS had not been given his medication despite his sister having brought this to the police station. He was in a cell with three other detainees and the Committee ordered him to be removed to his own cell and that he be provided with his medication. The other three were also moved from the cell that they were in as it had no running water. One detainee arrested by the Metro police had still not been charged after a few days.
