The case is still pending. . Case 557/07/2010 case involving driving against oncoming traffic: Three members were arrested and the case investigated by the ICD. The members were suspended with full pay and the case is still pending. . Status of the case involving a police member who stopped a civilian from providing CPR to another police member- Warrant Officer Minnaar (media report): A complaint and inquest docket was opened- CAS 167/05/2010. The inquest is still pending as they are waiting for medical reports. Apparently the Warrant Officer had been told that a shooting had occurred and thus he cordoned off the crime scene. Two ladies wanted to give CPR but did not have any documentation to prove that they were qualified. Apparently they did give CPR to the police member. The station in its report seemed to accept that there was a problem with a person providing CPR when they could not supply any documentation. No formal disciplinary hearing was held. The Commander of the person was not called in and a support person deals with the case. Why was the immediate manager not informed? . The status of the case involving a teenager who was refused medical attention (media report): No report received in the meeting. . The status of the case involving the assault of a photographer: Two members were given a verbal warning. Criminal charges are still pending and they were to appear in court on 18 August 2011. Apparently, the members were advised by the station not to apologise and thus the complainant decided to pursue criminal charges. The Provincial Commissioner and the Station Commander agreed that the verbal warning was inappropriate and that a full disciplinary hearing will be reinstated. The fact that they refused to apologise has meant that the Provincial Commissioner will need to give evidence against them, as he had met with the complainant. . A report on the case of two girls that did not stop at a stop sign and were arrested and forced to remove their clothing: Two dockets were opened of assault and indecent assault. Apparently the two girls were taken to a clinic at Laudium for a blood test and were forced to undress. Photographs were taken by the police on their cell phones. The Provincial Commissioner stated that he required 24 hours to investigate the case and would report back to the Committee by Friday 12 August 2011. .
