Chairperson, I hereby give notice that on the next sitting day of the House I shall move on behalf of the ANC:
That the Council -
1) notes that the African National Congress, ANC, took almost 79% of the 2011 local government elections in Mpumalanga;
2) further notes that the ANC achieved such an absolute majority despite desperate attempts by the Democratic Alliance and certain media houses and newspapers to peddle systematic cynicism and portray surging discontent against the ANC by citizens in areas such as Balfour and Ermelo that were the site of violent Public Service delivery protests prior to the elections;
3) acknowledges that this absolute majority, especially in places such as Balfour and Ermelo, is a clear declaration and affirmation of overwhelming trust and confidence by the people of Mpumalanga ...

... in the agenda and programmes of the ANC to dismantle the legacy of underdevelopment in their communities; and
