Deputy Chairperson, I move without notice:
That the Council -
(1) congratulates the City of Cape Town ...
And I want the ruling party to listen to what service delivery is -
... which has set aside R1,26 billion in its 2011-2012 draft budget for indigent relief;
(2) notes that over the past five years the city has increased the total amount it spends on its indigent residents by almost R800 million;
(3) recognises that this means that old age homes and hostels will now pay approximately half the rates they used to; and
(4) acknowledges that all indigent households with income levels between R3 000 and R4 000 a month will now receive a rates rebate of 50 per cent.
