1. Whether her department has sourced funding in order to recruit staff
for the establishment of the Office of the Chief Operating Officer:
if not, where does the funding come from; if so, what are the relevant
details; REF 507E
Minister of Labour replies:
1. The Department of Labour recognised the need for capacity in the
office of the Chief Operations Officer (OCOO). The following was thus
embarked upon:
1. The Chief Directorate: Planning Monitoring and Evaluation (CD: P, M &
E) is in the process of being transferred to the OCOO. This Unit
comprises of; a Chief Director: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation
with; a Senior Office Administrator and two Deputy Directors. The
transfer of the Chief Directorate will not have any financial
implications as the posts already exist and are fully funded.
2. To ensure organisational effectiveness and optimum structures, the
Department has a project underway for an Organisational Review. This
project will review and determine functions as per our mandate,
workload and span of control. Included in this review is the OCOOâs.
